Little Rhein Prost Haus
231 S Alamo Street,
San Antonio, Texas 78205
The new Little Rhein Prost Haus open March 2021. Located on the San Antonio River Walk in a century-old building with strong German roots, it is the perfect setting for a Bavarian restaurant featuring homestyle German cuisine and various types of family-friendly live music and entertainment, including authentic Bavarian Polka players. It will be a love affair marrying traditional German history, food, beer, fun, and a year-round feel of Oktoberfest!
In 1836 Mexican General Santa Anna was encamped on these very grounds during the battle of the Alamo. Later in the 19th century, German immigrants designated this area as the Little Rhein district. In 1847 the historic two-story Bombach House was built with native limestone, and is the second oldest of its kind in Bexar County. Otto Bombach, a carpenter, built the structure for his family. Since it’s time as an early Texas home, it has been used as a boarding house, a grocery store and bar, a private school, and a hangout for desperados. Renovations will bring to life the beauty of the historic Bombach House. The new owners chose to keep Little Rhein as a part of the new name as an homage to the Little Rhein Steak House located there since 1967.
SAN ANTONIO RIVER WALK
Perfectly positioned on the southern bank of the famed San Antonio River Walk it boasts not just an authentic German feel but a beautiful expanded stepped patio terrace overlooking the river.
WHERE EVERY DAY IS OKTOBERFEST
Inside the main building, you will find a Bavarian Bier room, a Restaurant-Opera Haus that features a full dining experience with entertainment. There is also a small party room too for intimate special occasions. Outside though you will find two of the most spectacular Bier Garten patios in all of Texas with perfect views of the San Antonio River Walk.
HUGE SELECTION OF DRAFT BEERS
Beer lovers rejoice! There will be more than 20 draft beers available, many imported directly from Munich or craft-brewed locally to wonderfully purist German recipes. And, liter bier steins will also abound alongside beer sampler flights and the largest selection of schnapps in Texas.
BRATS, PRETZELS, SAUERKRAUT & MORE
Don’t overlook the food. Traditional delicious and scratch-made dishes include: schnitzels of various types, German potato salads, brats and sausages of all types, sauerkraut, red cabbage, homemade beer cheese, German grain mustards, apple streudel and so much more as well as burgers, chicken sandwiches, salads, and a dedicated kids menu – there’s certainly something for everyone!
